Maca Kizi Hotel, Bodrum

Today I arrived in Bodrum for a long weekend. Divan Palmira kindly declined my reservation request after my 2007 review of the hotel. They were nice enough to recommend another boutique hotel in the area, so I checked in to Maca Kizi Hotel. My first half day here so far, the view from my room is fantastic. It is too early to write a formal review but if they don't royally screw it up between now and Sunday morning, this hotel has a potential to me my Bodrum summer stop going forward.

Oppenheim Hosts Legal Real Estate Workshop

Helping homeowners prevent foreclosure is keeping Roy Oppenheim busy as he defends the constitutional rights and wrongs for Broward homeowners. Considering the Sunshine State's foreclosures rank 4th in the nation and South Florida foreclosures jumped up 33 percent in the first quarter of 2009, foreclosure defense expertise is a hot commodity that is often times a missed step.

Lou Dobbs Continues With His Racist Comments on CNN Now Against Turks

Lou Dobbs said on Tuesday during his nightly CNN broadcast that president Obama's speech in the Turkish Parliament about religious diversity in America did not mean anything for the Turks. Lou Dobbs is a racist a**hole, who belongs Rupert Murdoch’s Fox News Network with his nightly crusade against the Mexicans and all immigrants for that matter. Dobbs said on Tuesday that religious diversity did not mean anything for Turks since 98.8% of the population is Moslem.

Steve Jobs Pissed Off at IDG Once Again, Decides to Kill Macworld

This is not the first time Jobs is having hissy fit over Macworld and its producer IDG World Expo. A few years ago when a genius IDG guy decided to move Macworld Expo East from New York City to Boston to save a few bucks, Steve Jobs was reportedly on the phone cursing every letter in the alphabet, and threatening to pull out of Macworld. At that time Jobs and IDG kissed and made up. I don’t know what happened today for Jobs to lose it and declare Apple is done with the Macworld Expo again. I don’t believe Apple can afford to do what they announced today, their decision to kill Macworld. We will see if Mr. Jobs will cool down and think more rationally after sleeping over this decision. We will see.

Did John McCain Add a New $3,000 Bogner Jacket to His Wardrope?

Last couple of days as I watch the election coverage on CNN I could not help recognizing my five year-old Bogner jacket Senator McCain has been wearing. Well my jacket has been to India and a few long trips, got dry cleaned a dozen times, and a little beat up, but it is the same jacket looks like to me. Well if it's the same exact jacket which I own then I tell you RNC is hard at work dressing up the Senator as well, since from what I remember he is wearing a$3,000 Bogner jacket.

Is Oakland Airport Employing Violent, Dangerous and Dishonest Cab Drivers?

I arrived in California today for the AJAX World Conference. The only direct flight we could find arrived in Oakland Airport. After collecting our luggage we left the terminal building, crossed the street and got a van / cab. The fee schedule for these vans from the Oakland Airport to San Jose says $15 for each passenger or $65 if you want to ride alone. The Egyptian immigrant driver of the van we rented (pictured above), EZ Ride Express with California license plates 6W68864 and 510 395 5566 phone number which was advertised on the vehicle, charged us $100 instead of $65 and got violent at the hotel he dropped us off.

Google's Knol vs Ulitzer

Google's Knol sounds like a knee-jerk reaction and retaliation to Jimmy Wales' public insults and threaths for more than a year. At least that's the common perception out there. Blogger Michael Arrington writes: 'Knol is not much different than existing products. It's a new knowledge base for authors. Anyone, eventually, will be able to write on any topic they choose. Google will provide authoring tools, store the information, allow others to comment and suggest edits, add ads with the author's approval, and provide traffic via their search engine. ... It's much more likely that Google is jealously eyeing the massive traffic that flows through its search engine to Wikipedia.'

Adobe Open Sources BlazeDS

Adobe is open sourcing the remoting and messaging technologies in its commercial LiveCycle Data Services ES - Adobe's route to the Internet - as a new product called BlazeDS. The widgetry, along with the Action Message Format (AMF) protocol specification, is being sent into the wild under the Lesser General Public License (LGPL v3), making Adobe the first major company to use the little-used new license. Public betas are out at labs.adobe.com.

Adobe Hits Record Revenues

Adobe earned $222.2 million, or 38 cents a share, up 21%, on record fourth-quarter revenues of $911.2 million, up 34% year-over-year, exceeding the company's revenue target of $860 million-$890 million. It attributed the results to Acrobat, its Creative Suite 3 products and momentum in its enterprise business. Creative Suite 3, which started coming out in April, includes upgrades to Photoshop, Illustrator and software acquired with Macromedia like Flash, Dreamweaver and Fireworks. On a non-GAAP basis Adobe earned 49 cents in Q4, a penny more than Wall Street expected.

NetSuite IPO Flies Up, Up and Away

First on Tuesday the number went from $13-$16 to $16-$19 and then on Wednesday to $19-$22 only to finally settle Wednesday night at $26 (after Oracle posted its latest glorious numbers), meaning NetSuite has raised almost $161.2 million and got itself a market cap of upwards of $1.5 billion - more than enough to pay Larry back the $8 million it owes him. The auction was supposed to price the shares closer to their actual market value than a typical IPO, which usually prices shares at a discount. Naturally, there are those who say the thing is overvalued. They've had practice saying that lately about VMware and VMware is in a lot better place than NetSuite. Ah, but the glamour of the Ellison name.

Attacked by Underground Bloggers, SYS-CON CEO Fuat Kircaali Featured on the Cover of Forbes Magazine

This man who writes for CBS / CNet / ZDNet sounds like he is out of his mind. Not a single person among SYS-CON's management team has ever heard of his name, had any business relationship with him, or knows who this person is. He was never asked to write for SYS-CON, he was never considered to write for SYS-CON, and he will never write for SYS-CON. Because SYS-CON does not think he is fit to write for the world's leading tech media company, he wants to boycott the company's advertisers? SYS-CON's advertisers are listed and updated on the company's website, which pretty much includes every significant technology player in every segment of today's software technology branches. So Mr. Blankenhorn wants to boycott the entire software industry because SYS-CON offended him?
